A Northern Thanksgiving

This year has been a year of growth and changes in our family. And the arrival of David has given us much to be grateful for.
However, no one said that Thanksgiving had to be stodgy and set in a traditional setting. That certainly wasn't the case for David's first Thanksgiving.
We traveled to Pointe au Baril to spend the holiday with the Scale side of our family. It was a beautiful fall day where we had an outdoor fire and lunch on the rocks. There is nothing that reminds you more of the gifts you have been given than spending time with family and being close to nature.
Our day ended with a traditional turkey dinner at the lodge and a stunning sunset.
It has been a year full of beautiful blessings. We just can't wait to see what the next year has in store!!

Fall Pickings

The best thing about growing your own family is that you get to start some of your own traditions. One of the traditions that we have begun is going apple picking each fall. We love the opportunity to get outside in the crisp autumn air and fill up a few bags of yummy fresh apples. And hey, if everyone is lucky enough, mommy even makes some delicious apple crisp with our fall pickings!! This was David's first apple picking experience and he had a blast!! You will see that demonstrated in the photos!!
We can't wait until next year when we are sure he will be climbing UP those trees!

Bay Boy

David had his first visit to "The Lodge" recently. He enjoyed spending time with family and meeting a few more of his Aunts, Uncles, and Great Grandparents. We even had the opportunity to take him out on the water for the first time. Although he slept for the entire 3 hour tour, we know he loved it!!

Tiny Bubbles...

In David's first few days of life he was having a little difficulty sleeping. The midwife suggested that we keep him up until midnight, give him and nice relaxing bath, a soothing massage, a long feed and then he would sleep "for at least 4 hours".  Did it work?, you ask. Ummmm...no...
Let's see, the bath wasn't so relaxing and the massage was stressful for all involved. The only thing he bought in to was the long "feed". As for the sleep...well, we are still working on that...

Already!?!?

Only 2 days old and a thumb sucker already!?!?

Mommy Minute

What a whirlwind the last 2 weeks have been!! Actually it has been more like a tornado!!
Becoming a mom of 2 is going to take a little bit of adjusting. Our first morning with daddy at work was a learning experience. My goal was to just get out for a walk and make it to the park. It took us until 11am to get everyone fed, dressed and out of the house. It seems that when one is fed the other has to poop, or one is dressed and the other spills something, one is crying and the other is thirsty. Whew! I am certain to lose this baby weight in no time if this is what the next 12 months at home is going to be like!!
