Mums the word

or so I was hoping...

David started doing some serious "babbling today".

I spent the whole day encouraging him while he went on "ba, ba, ba, ba".

"YEAH!! Good boy!! Now try, "ma, ma, ma, ma."

He looks right at me and says, "Ah, da, da"

NOOOOOO!!!!!

I take a deep breath and think that it doesn't count unless he says it again.

He didn't. Not all day. Mind you he didn't say mama either.

Curt got home from work and I repeated what happened. He was so excited that David said dada. I quickly reminded him that David doesn't exactly know what he is saying and that it is just random babbling and it doesn't count unless he says it again.

I then proceed to head out of the room. Shortly after I hear a "HE SAID IT!!! DADA!!!".

Come on. Really? Nope. I won't believe it until I hear it again with my own ears...come on buddy...who's the one that feeds you...

Sitting Pretty...

I mean handsome!!
We started to wonder if David would ever sit!! Then last Monday (March 15th), while we were visiting a friend's cottage, he decided he need to see the world from a different perspective and that was it! Now our little monkey is sitting!!
LOVE IT!

PS. Notice the drool?

Can it Be? Already?

Wow. What a few weeks we have had with David.
He hasn't been sleeping well. And by not sleeping well, I mean he'll sleep until midnight and then he is up every 2 hours. EXHAUSTING!!!
Then, this week he was hit with a little cold. Cranky with a running nose. Poor little thing!
This evening, we couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. Nothing soothed him or made him happy. Finally I decided to try and give him my knuckle to chomp/suck on. All of a sudden he bit down and I got my first feel of the source of his fussiness.
HE GOT HIS FIRST TOOTH!!
It is on the bottom right hand side.
How cute will he look with his little tooth!?!?
Now I almost feel guilty for complaining...

Batty Beginnings

Some thought David was still a bit little this year for all the hubbub of Halloween haunting.
But, one of my favorite things is to dress my kiddies up any chance I get and send them out for a little loot for the family. Hey, we all have to do our part. No one could resist giving what they could to this little cutie.
You will notice the many costume changes the poor boy had to endure. Ahhh... I still have so many years of "picture torture" to go!!

P.S. Yes. He did sleep through the whole ordeal.

A Northern Thanksgiving

This year has been a year of growth and changes in our family. And the arrival of David has given us much to be grateful for.
However, no one said that Thanksgiving had to be stodgy and set in a traditional setting. That certainly wasn't the case for David's first Thanksgiving.
We traveled to Pointe au Baril to spend the holiday with the Scale side of our family. It was a beautiful fall day where we had an outdoor fire and lunch on the rocks. There is nothing that reminds you more of the gifts you have been given than spending time with family and being close to nature.
Our day ended with a traditional turkey dinner at the lodge and a stunning sunset.
It has been a year full of beautiful blessings. We just can't wait to see what the next year has in store!!

Fall Pickings

The best thing about growing your own family is that you get to start some of your own traditions. One of the traditions that we have begun is going apple picking each fall. We love the opportunity to get outside in the crisp autumn air and fill up a few bags of yummy fresh apples. And hey, if everyone is lucky enough, mommy even makes some delicious apple crisp with our fall pickings!! This was David's first apple picking experience and he had a blast!! You will see that demonstrated in the photos!!
We can't wait until next year when we are sure he will be climbing UP those trees!
